AlertStar™ Safety Corporation develops new ways to help improve the safety and security of children who ride to and from school each day on a school bus.

Our project originated because of a tragic accident in 2001 involving a young girl in Phoenix who lost a leg after her school bus ran over her. Our team decided that there was a need for a better way to help keep school children safe. As we began to research the pupil transportation industry we learned that although school buses are one of the safest modes of transportation in terms of collisions, there are too many children being killed and injured by their own bus, or by drivers who pass stopped school buses in violation of school bus stop-arm laws. In addition many school districts are experiencing serious incidents on the bus caused by unruly, illegal and inappropriate behavior.

Our goal was to develop an integrated solution to address these key issues.
