Homeland Security classifies school buses as high profile 'soft' targets for individuals and terrorist groups. More than 475,000 school buses in the United States carry more than 26 million children to and from school each day. School buses are plainly marked, run on regular schedules, have little or no security and they carry children. It is a sobering reality.

Another sobering reality is that conditions in today's world thrusts the school bus driver into the role of the first line of defense against terrorist attacks and acts of domestic violence aimed at children who ride school buses. Not only are more advanced technologies needed as safety tools, but more comprehensive training programs are needed to teach these new front-liners how to react in potentially violent situations.

AlertStar is embarking on the addition of new capabilities to our system to deter and prevent potential terrorist incidents. As an example the ability to remotely determine Some of these technologies include the capability of real time access of the inside cameras by law enforcement to have 'eyes and ears' inside the bus. Others include bomb detection, remote engine shut down, and biometric child identification technologies.
